Who We Are

The Halaali app and halaali.app

Halaali is run from 41 Steadman St, Cambridge, Ontario N1S 0C7, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described here. You can reach us about privacy at info@halaali.app.

What We Collect

Only what the service needs

We avoid excess (Israf) in collection as in everything else. Depending on what you use, we collect:

• •Account details: your name, email address and sign-in method (email, Apple or Google), and a profile photo if you add one
• •Location: your device location while you allow it, to show nearby places, the Qiblah direction and prayer times. You can turn this off in your device settings at any time
• •Habibi: the questions you ask and the answers given, and your voice while you use voice mode (microphone access is only requested for that)
• •Purchases: whether you subscribe to Habibi Pro. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details
• •Things you send us: places you submit, events you submit, support messages and your newsletter email
• •Usage and device information: pages and screens viewed, taps, app version, device type, approximate region and crash reports, used to fix problems and improve the service

Who Processes It

Service providers we rely on

These providers process data on our behalf only to run the service, and may store it outside your country (including in the United States and the European Union):

• •Supabase: accounts, our database and file storage
• •Vercel: hosting for halaali.app and anonymous page-speed measurements
• •PostHog: product analytics for the app and website
• •Sentry: crash and error reports from the app
• •RevenueCat, Apple and Google: subscriptions and payments
• •Mapbox: maps and place search
• •OpenRouter and Anthropic: the AI models that answer Habibi questions
• •Expo, Apple and Google: delivering push notifications you opt in to
• •Resend and Google Workspace: emails we send and support email
• •Upstash: short-lived data used to keep the service fast and protect it from abuse

Cookies and Analytics

On halaali.app

The website uses PostHog to count visits and see which pages help people. Outside the UK and the EU it stores an analytics identifier in a cookie and local storage; in the UK and the EU it stores nothing on your device. It respects your browser's Do Not Track setting. Vercel's page-speed measurements use no cookies.

No Sale of Data

Absolute Commitment

We never sell, trade or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. We share it only with the providers above to run the service, or when the law requires it.

How Long We Keep It

No longer than needed

We keep your account information while your account is open. When you delete your account (in the app, or at halaali.app/account-deletion) we delete it, except what we must keep by law. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics and crash data are kept for a limited period and then deleted or made anonymous.

Security Measures

Protecting Your Trust

Data travels over encrypted connections, access to our systems is limited to the people who need it, and our providers store it on secured infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.

Your Rights

Empowerment

You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal information, and you can withdraw consent you have given (for example location, notifications or the newsletter) at any time. Email info@halaali.app and we will answer within 30 days, without charge. Halaali is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to This Policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and its date, and tell you in the app or by email when the change is significant.
